ACCREDITED

 

The UAA Human Services Department is very pleased to announce that both their Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Human Services degrees have been accredited by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education. The Human Services Department, led by Dr. Laura Kelley, Accreditation Committee Chair, prepared and submitted the Self-Study between November 2002 and July 2003.Two members of the Council for Standards in Human Service Education made a two day site visit in September during which time they met with the Department's faculty, staff, students, Community Advisory Board, Field Instructors, the College of Health and Social Welfare Dean, the Provost and Vice Provost, and the Chancellor. They also visited some of the agencies at which students were placed to complete their practica. Their report was submitted at the October 2003 meeting of the entire Council for Standards in Human Service Education for review. The Council approved both degree programs and commented on both the excellence of the self-study and site visit report as well as on the quality of the program, and commended the Human Services Department for its work and dedication to the needs of the students and State of Alaska.
